The 14th International Conference on Asian Economic Development (AED2025)

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, organized the 14th International Conference on Asian Economic Development (AED2025) at the Lifelong Learning for Well-being Auditorium. The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Winita Punyodom, Vice President of Chiang Mai University, with the conference report delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Rossarin Osathanunku, Dean of the Faculty of Economics.

The purpose of the conference was to provide a platform for presenting academic works and research in the field of economic development and related disciplines. It also aimed to create opportunities for faculty members, researchers, staff, students, and the general public to exchange knowledge and experiences with international experts. The main theme of this year’s conference was “New Structural Changes on Asian Economic Development.”

The event was organized through collaboration with scholars from leading universities both in Thailand and abroad and was honored by distinguished keynote speakers, including:

  • Professor Souknilanh Keola, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA)
  • Professor Li Yao, National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • Associate Professor Dr. Nisit Panthamit, Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University

In the afternoon, research presentations related to Asian economic development were delivered by faculty members, students, and economists from around the world. The conference served as a significant platform for exchanging ideas, perspectives, and visions, with the goal of advancing sustainable economic development in the Asian region.

Faculty of Economics, CMU Hosts the 13th International Conference on Asian Economic Development (AED2024)

On September 11, 2024, the Faculty of Economics, Chiang Mai University, hosted the 13th International Conference on Asian Economic Development (AED2024). The event was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Pairat Kanjanakaroon, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and took place at the Happy Lifelong Learning Conference Room.

The conference served as a premier platform for presenting academic and research papers on economic development and related disciplines. It provided a valuable opportunity for faculty members, researchers, staff, students, and the general public to engage and exchange knowledge with international experts in the field. This year, the conference was driven by the central theme: “Sustainability of Asian Economy under Global Conflicts.”

This remarkable event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of scholars from leading universities, both domestically and internationally. The conference was honored by the presence of several distinguished speakers, including:

  • Professor Dr. Ulrike Grote – Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany

  • Dr. Manh Hung Do – Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany

  • Professor Togar Simatupang – Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia

  • Professor Yulan Yuan – Tunghai University, Taiwan

  • Professor Tatsuro Futasuyama – Kagawa University, Japan

  • Professor Jeong Hugh Han – Kyung Hee University, South Korea

  • Professor Young-Jun Choi – Kyung Hee University, South Korea

During the afternoon sessions, faculty members, students, and economists from around the world presented their research related to Asian economic development. The presentations fostered dynamic discussions, creating an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and share visions for driving sustainable economic development across the Asian region.
